First Couple of Days in Fiji

I've had a challenge getting into ythe WiFi connection here but am now successful.  It's too relaxing here  - don't know how often I'll post!!

Our flight from LA to Nadi, Fiji was uneventful – just under 10 hours.  We each slept about 5 hours and so that was helpful , even if it wasn’t a great sleep.  We transferred to Port Denerau for the catamaran transfer to our resort.  The catamaran ride over was 1 ¼ hours and the weather was overcast and almost raining.  We arrived to a Fijian Welcome of a group from the staff playing musical instruments and singing a welcome song.   Disembarking at the resort meant stepping off into the water and then wading in a couple of feet.  This was a problem for Lois with her brace but a large Fijian male just picked her up and carried her from the boat all the way across the beach.  Because of the early hour we arrived in Fiji, this was all before our room was ready.  We did get in by noon.
This is a very beautiful, relaxing resort.  There are only 2 resorts on the island of Tokoriki so there are no cars and no other noise pollution.  All units are individual units on the beach and very private.  We have a wonderful covered patio where we spend a lot of time reading or sleeping.  We did have a good nights sleep last night so I think we are close to be adjusted to the time change.
Today we went on a village tour on a neighbouring island.  There are about 600 hundred people in the village and a number of them work at the resort.  It was very interesting to see how they live (no running water or electricity) and how happy they are.
